This spot deserves at least 4 stars every time -- consistently delicious, particularly the siu mai and bbq pork chow fun.

Ok so hear me out... yes, Tsings looks a little ragged from the vantage point of the pedestrian strolling along west portal ave. Yes, the decor leaves a little to be desired. And yes, the service is a little touch and go but.... Who goes to Chinese for any of that!?! I want hot tea fast, a long menu that has all the things; short ribs, crab rangoon, egg rolls, every Chinese entree in every sauce with every meat, and great noodles/dumplings. Tsings has many of these things. My kid ordered Dim Sum dumpling assortment - all delicious and huge. 2 shu mai, 2 shrimp, and a steam bun. My mangione of a daughter couldn't finish it. My #1 son orders 4 shu mai - same. Can't finish. Dumplings were delicious and very hefty. I ordered bbq pork chow fun and it was perfect. I was a little suspicious at first at the look and amount but it was ultimately delicious and plenty of food. I asked the waiter if they did regular Dim Sum and I think they were confused by the question but it would be a great spot for some Dim Sum. From the looks of it, this is family business so I'm completely willing to overlook a few blemishes... the food is solid. Feels like a lot of takeout is the jam but we ate in. Try it. It really is good.
